Marshall Maposa is a lecturer in the History Education discipline at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Edgewood Campus, South Africa. He has 9 years experience as a secondary school teacher and another 9 years as a lecturer at UKZN. He obtained a PhD in History Education at the same university. His research interest is on textbook research, history education (particularly historical literacy), African history and African consciousness. He has published articles and book chapters on these issues and has presented at local and international conferences. In 2016 he received the Top Emerging Researcher in the Humanities Award at the UKZN. He is also the Book Review Editor for the Yesterday & Today journal and an executive member of South African Society for History Teaching.
